Quality Mark Award

We are very pleased to announce that we have been awarded the highly regarded Quality Mark Award for the fourth time. This is quite an achievement and only 3 other schools in the whole of West Berkshire have achieved this 4 times so far. The award is very important to us as a school as it recognises that we have very high aspirations of everyone in our school community to achieve the very best outcomes for all our young people. The rigorous assessment looked at many areas in the school related to the development of basic skills in English and Maths for pupils including how the school focuses its whole school strategy on pupil progress in basic skills, how we analyse the data and set targets, the use of an innovative range of teaching approaches and a robust monitoring programme. The assessors – who check very carefully and spend a whole day in school interviewing staff, pupils, parents and governors and looking at the impact of our work on basic skills – said that we “richly deserved” the award and in addition to the achieving all the elements of the award criteria they wished to record the “…warm, supportive and respectful relationships evident across the school” and also the wished to acknowledge “the quality of the Outreach support provided to mainstream schools”. Thank you to our community in enabling us to gain this award. We now wish to build on this and develop English and Maths even further.
