Derek Paravacini visits The Castle School

Pupils and staff were very excited last week when the renowned pianist Derek Paravicini visited us. Derek is completely blind and has autism and severe learning difficulties. He has proven that this is no barrier at all and he is an amazing musician. He delighted all at The Castle by playing a very varied array of tunes and taking requests - Derek can play pretty much anything from memory and is also able to play tune after hearing it only once. Here are some pictures of the day:

Safety Online

With Christmas just over many children will have received electronic devices including tablets and phones. This opens up a wonderful world of learning and fun opportunities. However, it also opens up many risks to children and young people. The good news is that there are many things that parents can do to help keep their children safe online. Just click the link below to go to our "Keeping Safe Online" webpage to find lots of resources to help your child stay safe and still enable them to use the internet.

Welcome back and Happy New Year

A very Happy New Year to all our pupils, staff, parents, carers and governors. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday.

I am, as always, very excited to see all the fantastic learning that is going to take place this term. It always makes me so happy that even on the first day back our pupils are learning straight away and fully engaged in all the exciting things they have to do.

I am very proud to be Headteacher of such an amazing group of staff and pupils and look forward to showing you all the brilliant achievements your children make this year.

I look forward to continued super progress of all our pupils over this term.

Best wishes,

Jon Hewitt
